"Best of all is to preserve
everything in a pure, still heart, and let there be for every pulse
a thanksgiving, and for every breath a song." This quote was below a gorgeous photo of a red pear in a magazine last year. Seeing the gorgeousness of the pear and hearing those amazing words, inspired me to paint this pear for my Thanksgiving cards.

My father’s family owned a little summer restaurant called Birdland FOREVER. My grandmother ran it until I was well into my twenties. Above the curtained doorway that led to the kitchen hung an antique print of little birds sitting on a wire that Grammy had gotten in Paris. She took it with her when she retired. When my sister reopened the next summer it seemed wrong to have an empty space above the kitchen door so I painted her my memory of the painting as a grand opening gift. She loved it and several people in the restaurant at the time commissioned me to paint them some birds. It seemed eveyone who saw the bird paintings wanted one; the bird craze went from there! |

"Strengthen me with raisins, - Song of Soloman 2:5 I have no idea which came first, the bible verse on my refrigerator or the apple paintings; I have been afforded much the same success with the apple paintings as with the birds. Christmas 1997 was the year of Applemania! |
